BIM Manager – Civil Construction & Design
The role: key responsibilities
The BIM Manager is responsible for leading Building Information Modeling strategy, standards, implementation, and coordination across all civil engineering, infrastructure, and construction projects. He/She will ensure model accuracy, promote digital collaboration, and drive technology adoption across multidisciplinary design and construction teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain company-wide BIM standards, workflows, and execution plans (BEPs).
- Lead BIM adoption and digital transformation initiatives across design and construction teams.
- Support business development by demonstrating BIM capabilities to clients and stakeholders.
- Evaluate and implement new BIM technologies, tools, and workflows.
- Oversee BIM execution on company`s ongoing projects.
- Lead model coordination (clash detection, constructability reviews, procedure standards, bill of quantities extraction, templates).
- Ensure that design disciplines (civil, structural, MEP, roads, networks) are aligned in model structure and workflows.
- Support project managers and design leads in planning BIM deliverables and schedules.
- Collaborate with contractors during preconstruction and construction phases for model-based planning.
- Maintain template libraries, object standards, classification systems, and naming conventions.
- Conduct model audits to ensure accuracy, LOD compliance, and data integrity.
- Ensure BIM deliverables meet client requirements, industry standards, and contractual obligations.
- Provide training, onboarding, and technical support for designers, drafters, engineers, and on-site teams.
- Build internal BIM guides, manuals, and best practices for internal design engineers and architects (Autodesk Revit Architecture and MEP).
- Manage software ecosystems such as Autodesk Civil 3D, Revit, Navisworks, InfraWorks, BIM 360 / ACC, Bentley OpenRoads/OpenBridge, or Trimble systems.
- Develop workflows for model-based quantity takeoffs, 4D/5D planning, and field integration (GNSS, scanning, drones).
- Support integration with GIS, asset management, and digital twin platforms.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field.
- 5+ years of BIM/VDC experience in civil engineering Projects.
- Advanced knowledge of Civil 3D, Navisworks, Revit, InfraWorks, or Bentley/OpenRoads tools.
- Strong understanding of civil design processes, construction sequencing, and multidisciplinary coordination.
- Experience developing BIM standards and leading BIM on major projects.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
